Do you ever feel like some weeks you're booked and busy whereas other weeks you are so overcome with personal responsibilities that work takes a back seat? Don't worry — you are really, REALLY not alone. One of the major issues I have with “one size fits all” social media advice and best practices, is that it can assume we're all coming it at with the same resources.
When nothing could be further from the truth.
Some of us have kids, second businesses, support our parents, coach little league, or even more seriously, are battling mental and physical forces outside of our control. Posting on social media every day or launching new accounts can seem far more attainable if all of life's external forces didn't exist.
This is why we've named four “seasons” of life to better help clients make sense of when they are their busiest and how that impacts the amount, and kind of, content they post:
Opulence: The creative juices are flowing and you’re throwing every amazing aspect of your life and career onto your social media — we love a booked and busy non-binary queen.
Abundance: You’re inspired, you have lots of content, you’re making connections — you’re firing on all cylinders in such a professional way. We love this for you.
Substance: It’s time to get down to business — you’re becoming increasingly more strategic with what you post and how often you post, considering everything you have going on.
Maintenance: Life and outside forces begin you in a lot of directions, and because of that your social media output is steady but not increasing — and that is ok.
We as business owners are incredibly hard on ourselves to master a marketing channel that changes daily and that we're rarely measured against in a healthy way.
So today I want to encourage you to embrace the season of life and work that you're currently in and work within it, knowing your next season could be around the corner.
I'm curious to hear from you: which season do you find yourself in right now?
